Odisha reported the highest toll of 65 deaths due to the Covid-19 virus infection on Sunday taking the overall number of fatalities to 4,599.

Highest number of 14 fatalities was reported from Khordha district, six each from Puri, Keonjhar and Bargarh, five each from Angul and Mayurbhanj, four from Nayagarh, three each from Sundargarh, Kendrapara and Ganjam and one each from Balasore, Bolangir, Boudh, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Sambalpur.

“This list does not reflect deaths occurring on a particular day. It gives details of past deaths for which the death audit process has been duly completed and the cause of death has been identified as due to Covid-19,” the department tweeted.

The Covid positive tally in Odisha also rose to 9,39,752 after as many as 2,282 people tested positive for the virus on Sunday.

The active cases in the State reached 25, 461 while 9,09,639 patients have recovered, including 3,120 on Saturday, from the disease so far.

Of the fresh Covid-19 cases reported from 30 districts, 1,315 are from quarantine centres, while the rest 967 are local contact cases, the data revealed by the I&PR Department stated.

Khordha district reported the highest 592 cases in the last 24 hours, followed by Cuttack (289), Balasore (146), Mayurbhanj (141), Puri (127) and Jajpur (111).

The State has so far tested over 1,44,90,021 samples for Covid-19, including 75,653 in the last 24 hours.
