  • Covid-19 tally in Odisha rose to 9,21,896 with 2,870 Covid-19 new Cases

The Covid-19 tally in Odisha rose to 9,21,896 while the death toll surged to 4,196 after as many as 2,870 people tested positive for the virus and 42 patients succumbed to the infection in the last 24 hours, informed the State Information and Public Relations (I&PR) department on Sunday.

With this, the active cases in the State reached 30,227 while 8,87,420 patients have recovered, including 3,158 on Saturday, from the disease so far.
Of the fresh Covid-19 cases reported from 30 districts, 1,652 are from quarantine centres, while the rest 1,218 are local contact cases, added the I&PR Department.

As per a data shared by the State Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department, Cuttack district reported the highest 440 cases in the last 24 hours, followed by Khordha (384), Balasore (240), Jajpur (191), Mayurbhanj (164), Kendrapara (157), Bhadrak (128), Jagatsinghpur (112) and Nayagarh (105).

The districts which registered below 100 cases are Angul (99), Sundargarh (87), Dhenkanal (85), Keonjhar (66), Koraput (60), Malkangiri (57), Rayagada (50), Kalanadi (36), Nabarangpur (35), Kandhamal (25), Sambalpur (23), Bargarh (14), Boudh (13), Sonepur (10), Gajapati and Nuapada (7 each), Deogarh and Jharsuguda (5 each).

In terms of deaths, eight fatalities were reported from Khordha district, five from Bargarh, four from Sundargarh, three each from Angul, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur and Ganjam, two each from Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kalahandi, Puri and Nayagarh and one from Keonjhar.

The State has so far tested over 1,39,79,649 samples for Covid-19, including 71,554 in the last 24 hours.
