The daily cases of Covid-19 further dipped in Odisha as the State witnessed 3,535 new cases on Wednesday. With this, the positive tally in the State climbed to 8,63,061, the State I&PR Department informed today.

Despite the fall in the new cases, the fatalities due to Covid-19 continue to surge in the State. At least 44 patients undergoing treatment for Covid-19 have succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 3,432, data shared by the Health Department said.

A total of 2,016 cases were reported from quarantine centers, while the remaining 1,519 were local transmission cases detected on Wednesday.

Khordha district with 533 fresh infections in the last 24 hours has the maximum cases among all districts followed by Jajpur (348), Cuttack (320), Balasore (296), Puri (187), Bhadrak (184), Mayurbhanj (153) and Kendrapara (104),

Districts which recorded below 100 cases are Nayagah (95),Keonjhar (92),Jagatsinghpur (90),Bargarh (86), Nawarangpur (85),Sundargarh (76),Rayagada (73), Dhenkanal, Kandhamal and Koraput (56 each),Boudh 52, Sonepur and Sambalpur (39 each),Kalahandi (35),Gajapati (27), Ganjam (26),Deogarh (25),Bolangir (18), Nuapada (15) and Jharsuguda (12).

The active cases in the State now stood at 47,796 while 8,11,780 patients have been cured or recovered.

The State has so far tested a total of 1, 27, 77,739 samples including 56,807 on Tuesday.
