The Covid-19 tally in Odisha rose to 9,00,470 while the death toll surged to 3,887 after as many as 3,408 people tested positive for the virus and 39 patients died due to the infection in the last 24 hours, informed the State Information and Public Relations (I&PR) department on Sunday.

With this, the active cases in the State remained at 32,706 while 8,63,824 patients have recovered, including 3,682 on Saturday, from the disease so far.

Of the fresh Covid-19 cases reported from 30 districts, 1,943 are quarantine cases, while the rest 1,465 are local contact cases, added the I&PR Department.

As per a data shared by the State Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department, Khordha district, which included the capital Bhubaneswar, reported the highest 582 cases in the last 24 hours, followed by Cuttack (553), Jajpur (258), Balasore (251), Puri (215), Bhadrak (169), Nayagarh (160), Mayurbhanj (158), Kendrapara (110) and Jagatsinghpur (103).

The deceased which registered below 100 cases are Angul (93), Rayagada (77), Koraput (76), Dhenkanal and Malkangiri (73 each), Keonjhar (70), Nawarangpur (43), Sundargarh (37), Sambalpur and Boudh (28 each), Bargarh (24), Bolangir (22), Jharsuguda and Kandhamal (19 each), Ganjam (17), Sonepur (16), Kalahandi (15), Gajapati (14), Nuapada (5) and Deogarh (4).

In terms of deaths, nine fatalities were reported from Khordha district, five each from Bargarh, Cuttack and Nayagarh, three from Sambalpur and  Sundargarh. Two each deaths were reported from Ganjam, Kendrapara, Mayurbhanj and Subarnapur while one from Puri.

The State has so far tested over 1,34,86,082 samples for Covid-19, including 68,695 in the last 24 hours.
