The Covid-19 tally in Odisha rose to 9,19,026 while the death toll surged to 4,154 after as many as 2,917 people tested positive for the virus and 45 patients died due to the infection in the last 24 hours, informed the State Information and Public Relations (I&PR) department on Saturday.

With this, the active cases in the State remained at 30,557 while 8,84,262 patients have recovered, including 3,265 on Friday, from the disease so far.

Of the fresh Covid-19 cases reported from 30 districts, 1,677 are quarantine cases, while the rest 1,240 are local contact cases, added the I&PR Department.

As per a data shared by the State Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department, Khordha district, which included the capital Bhubaneswar, reported the highest 549 cases in the last 24 hours, followed by Cuttack (422), Balasore (237), Jajpur (218), Mayurbhanj (165), Bhadrak (163), Puri (132), Jagatsinghpur (119).

The deceased which registered below 100 cases are Nayagarh (96), Angul (86), Kendrapara (79), Dhenkanal (77), Keonjhar (75), Malkangiri (59), Koraput (55), Rayagada (53), Sundargarh (48), Bargarh and Sambalpur (22 each), Ganjam and Kalahandi (21 each), Boudh and Nawarangpur (19 each), Kandhamal (13), Sonepur (12), Jharsuguda and Nuapada (8 each), Bolangir (7), Gajapati (6) and Deogarh (5).

In terms of deaths, nine fatalities were reported from Khordha district, five each from Bargarh and Cuttack, four from Dhenkanal and three from Koraput, Sambalpur, Subarnapur and Sundargarh. Two deaths each were reported from Nayagarh and Puri while one from Angul, Ganjam, Jharsuguda, Kandhamal, Kendrapara and Mayurbhanj.

The State has so far tested over 1,39,08,095 samples for Covid-19, including 74,225 in the last 24 hours.
