Odisha on Wednesday recorded 11,607 new Covid-19 cases, including 991 cases from 0-18 age group, pushing the cumulative positive tally to 11,67,094, informed the State Information & Public Relations (I&PR) Department.

The death toll rose 8,494 as six more patients- two in from Khorhda district and one each from Bhadrak, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur and Jharsuguda- succumbed to the disease, reported State Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department on Wednesday.

Out of the total cases reported today, 6,728 were detected in quarantine while 4,879 are local contact cases, added the I&PR department.

Khurda district, which includes the state capital Bhubaneswar reported the highest number of new cases at 4,347, followed by Sundargarh at 1,219, Cuttack at 898 and Sambalpur at 390.

Cases in other districts- Balasore (305), Jajpur (231), Balangir (229), Rayagada (229), Jharsuguda (219), Nayagarh (206), Angul (185), Mayurbhanj (174), Koraput (168), Nuapada (166), Puri (157), Bhadrak (153), Nabarangpur (149), Bargarh (145), Jagatsinghpur (134), Keonjhar (121), Kendrapada (119), Sonepur (114), Kalahandi (103), Ganjam (93), Gajapati (87), Malkangiri (85), Kandhamal (80), Boudh (78), Deogarh (75), Dhenkanal (71) and State Pool (877).

With this, the active cases in the State rose to 84,770, including 25,400 in Khurda district, which is in the red zone with Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Cuttack and Balasore. It may be noted that the district which has over 2,500 Covid-19 positive cases is included in the red zone.

Similarly, Bargarh, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Koraput, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur and Mayurbhanj are among the nine districts that are in the yellow zone with over 1,000 coronavirus-positive patients each.

At least 10,73,777 people recuperated from the disease, including 7,745 on Tuesday, till date, as per the State Health and Family Welfare Department.

Odisha so far has tested 2,68,42,063 samples, including 69,502 in the last 24 hours, for Covid-19.
