Bhubaneswar: Odisha government on Tuesday ordered local authorities at various levels to begin facilitation for Covid vaccination of family members of healthcare providers. 

In a letter to all district Collectors, Commissioners of Municipal Corporations, Additional Chief Secretary to the State Health Department, PK Mohapatra has asked the officials to facilitate Covid vaccination of the family members of healthcare workers at health facilities in their respective districts/corporation at suitable CVCs.

The Health department expressed concerns that the family members of the healthcare providers are equally at risk for Covid infection because of the nature of the work of the healthcare providers. 

Since the beginning of Covid pandemic, our healthcare providers have been fighting relentlessly to provide quality services to the community for saving valuable lives of people in our State, Mohapatra stated in his letter.

It may be noted that the vaccination of healthcare workers started on a priority basis across the country. In Odisha, so far, more than 95% of healthcare workers have been vaccinated against Covid-19.
