  • Odisha has decided to go for de-hiring of beds at Covid treatment facilities in view of the declining trend of Covid-19.

In view of the declining trend of the Covid-19 cases in the second wave, the Odisha government has decided to close all Covid Care Centres from July 1.

The decision has been taken following recommendations of the State Technical Committee on Covid management.

In a letter, PK Mohapatra, the Additional Chief Secretary (Health) has instructed all Collectors, Municipal Commissioners for de-hiring of beds at Covid treatment facilities in view of the declining trend of Covid-19.

Here are the recommendations of the Technical Committee which have been approved by the Odisha government.

-All the Covid Care Centres (CCC) both in government and private sectors shall be closed. If some patients are still undergoing treatment, they shall continue treatment till they are discharged. New patients of the locality shall be referred to nearest government facility.

- All the Dedicated COVID Health Centres (DCHC), Dedicated Covid Hospitals (DCH) run by government and Covid facilities in government Medical Colleges shall continue to function keeping in mind the resurgence of any possible 3rd wave.

- All government Covid facilities run by private hospital partners shall be closed if no patient has been admitted. However if some patients are still undergoing treatment in a facility, they shall continue the treatment till they are discharged.

- All Covid Hospitals managed by private Hospital partners and funded by corporate partners/ DMF shall continue to function till the end of the approval period.

-The private hospitals under the Odisha Clinical Establishment (Control & Regulation) Act & Rules thereunder, shall continue to provide treatment to symptomatic Covid-19 positive patients at rates notified by Government.

- The daily data collection/reporting as regards Covid-19 cases of government Covid-19 hospitals shall continue until further orders.

- The manpower already deployed in the Government Covid-19 hospitals, set up at Medical Colleges shall be retained proportionate to occupancy.

- However, all concerned must remain in readiness to functionalize quickly in the event of the onset of a third wave of the pandemic.

“The above decisions shall be effective from 01 07.2021. 1t is therefore, requested to take immediate action at your end for de-hiring reduction of beds of the Covid-19 hospitals as mentioned above under intimation to this Department,” the letter added.
