  • Odisha govt issued order regarding COVID-19 vaccination of transgenders
  • Collectors asked to vaccinate transgenders without any discrimination or inconvenience

The Odisha Health Department has directed all district Collectors, Commissioners of Municipal Corporations and CDM/PHOs to facilitate 100 per cent COVID-19 vaccination of transgenders.

The State Health Department in a circular has said the Union Health Ministry communicated a letter to facilitate the COVID-19 vaccination of transgender persons without any discrimination or causing any inconvenience and social stigma. 

“If such persons don't have any prescribed identify card, then SoPs communicated earlier regarding vaccination of citizens without any prescribed ID card shall be followed and registration & vaccination shall be ensured,” the health department said.

The district collectors, municipal commissioners and other officials have been asked to disseminate the instructions with all programme officers, managers, verifier and vaccinators immediately for ensuring 100% coverage of transgenders.

The Odisha government has vaccinated 1,38,09,756 persons in the State so far including 2,02,482 on Friday. While 1,08,16,744 persons have received first dose, 29,93,012 received second dose.
