Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday announced a financial assistance package of Rs 453.50 crore for the welfare of women under the State Mission Shakti programme.

As per the announcement, Rs 169 crore will be provided for construction of 338 block level Mission Shakti federation buildings which will be called Mission Shakti Bhawan.

The government has announced Rs 84.50 crore Revolving Fund and Rs 200 crore interest subvention for repayment of loans of Self Help Groups to help the Mission Shakti members in business.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that Mission Shakti is a huge institution encompassing around 70 lakh mothers and is a major development force of Odisha. Expressing confidence in their skills, the Chief Minister said, 'You go ahead, I am with you.

He congratulated the Mission Shakti's members for doing a remarkable job during Covid crisis.

The Chief Minister said that the Mission Shakti Bhawan for Self Help Groups at the block level will train mothers, open sales centres for products and review their own programmes.
