Bhubaneswar: The Fire Services department of Odisha has deployed as many as 384 firemen with basic firefighting and rescue machinery across 62 Covid hospitals in the State in order to avert fire accidents in the medicals. 

The move comes in the wake of several fire mishaps in the country claiming dozens of life and causing damage to property.

A total of 384 fire personnel working in 3 shifts round the clock have been deployed at the Covid hospitals for the purpose, stated a press release shared by the Directorate of Fire Services.

The note explained that in the event of any fire outbreak in any of these hospitals, these personnel will take immediate necessary steps to extinguish the blaze and report the incident to the nearest Fire Station.

In order to remain prepared for any exigencies through proper training and sensitization of authorities, mock drills are being regularly conducted at Covid hospitals and Covid Care Centres as per the directive of DG, Fire Services.
