COVID update: Active cases cross 3,000 in Odisha after over 500 new infections

The active cases of Covid-19 in Odisha surged to 3360 on Monday after the State reported more than 500 new infections for the third consecutive day.

According to State Health Department, a total of 572 fresh Covid cases in Odisha have been reported from several districts.

As many as 69 cases have been detected among the 0 to 18 year olds. Similarly, 336 and 236 cases of infections have come to notice from quarantine and local contacts.

Khordha accounted for the maximum daily load of infections today with 219 positives. With Cuttack recording 68 cases, the western district of Sambalpur and Sundargarh have posted a sharp surge in infections on Monday.

Both the district have reported 41 and 63 cases respectively, said the Health dept data.

Meanwhile, India's national Covid tally on Monday added 16,678 fresh cases to take the Active cases to 1,30,713. The country as a whole has reported 26 new deaths due to the viral disease, said a data released by the Health Ministry.
