A day after the Covid-19 recoveries outnumbered the daily cases, Odisha on Sunday registered a marginal drop in daily cases tally. The State reported 8520 new Covid-19 cases from different districts in the past 24 hours.

Of the total 8520 Covid-19 cases reported in the past 24 hours, highest 2262 new cases have been reported from Khordha district, followed by Sundargarh (932), Cuttack (789), Balasore (346), Kalahandi (226) and Nayagarh (216).

The State Information & Public Relations Department informed that of the 8520 new Covid-19 cases, 937 cases are in the age group of 0 to 18 years. The active caseload in the State now stands at 85320.

It is for the third consecutive day that the State has shown a declining trend as far as the new Covid-19 cases (below 10,000) are concerned.

Experts, however, said that it is too early to predict if the State is witnessing a plateauing stage now.

On Saturday, Odisha had reported 8,845 new cases of infection. On Friday, 9833 Covid-19 cases were reported from different parts of the State while 11607 cases of Covid-19 infections were reported in Odisha on January 18.

Apart from the new Covid-19 infections, Odisha today reported 06 more Covid-19 deaths, taking the death toll to 8,520.
