Odisha on Tuesday reported 69 new deaths due to Covid-19 infection taking the death toll to 6,102 in the pandemic.

Kendrapara, three each from Balasore, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur and Mayurbhanj, two each from Angul, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Jajpur and Kalahandi and one each from Bolangir and Nayagarh.

“This list does not reflect deaths occurring on a particular day. It gives details of past deaths for which the death audit process has been duly completed and the cause of death has been identified as due to Covid-19,” the State Health department informed through its Twitter page.

The Covid positive tally in Odisha also rose to 9,80,866 after as many as 1,129 people tested positive for the virus on Tuesday. The active cases in the State reached 14,325 while 9,60,386 patients have recovered, including 1,785 on Monday, from the disease so far.

Of the fresh Covid-19 cases reported from 30 districts, 657 are from quarantine centers, while the rest 472 are local contact cases, the data revealed by the I&PR Department stated.

Khordha district reported the highest 388 cases in the last 24 hours, followed by Cuttack (135), Balasore (72), Kendrapara (66), Jagatsinghpur (63) and Bhadrak (60).

The State has so far tested over 1,61,64,543 samples for Covid-19, including 67,131 in the last 24 hours.
