Bhubaneswar: The decision on the unlock process would be taken after observing the Covid situation post June 17, said the Director, Public Health, Niranjan Mishra on Friday.

"There is no such news of relief yet from the Covid situation in the State even though the daily cases are on a steady decline. The situation would be reviewed after Raja Festival. Decision on unlock would be taken after observing the scenario after lockdown ends on June 17," Mishra said.

The unlock process is likely to start in the districts which are reporting a dip in daily positive cases. The testing exercise is being intensified in the areas where the test positive rate is high. People testing positive are kept under isolation, he said adding that awareness campaign has also been stepped up in the areas witnessing more cases.

Districts like, Cuttak, Khurdha, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Sundergarh have been witnessing high positivity rate while other areas are reporting less cases every day, he added.

"Measures taken by the government yielded fruits. The situation is limping back to normalcy as both daily and active cases are declining. The situation is getting under control gradually," Mishra added.

There is no let up in daily fatalities even the the infections are coming down every day. The seriously ill patients who were admitted to hospitals earlier are mostly succumbing. The daily deaths will also come down gradually," DMET CBK Mohanty said.

Decision on unlock will be taken after analysing the situation. The unlock will begin at a favourable situation, Mohanty added.
