Amid growing fears of the spread of Covid-19 cases during the ensuing festivities in Odisha, the Director of the Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET) CBK Mohanty said that micro containment zones will be set up at places in the State Capital where clustering of cases will be observed.

“The government had earlier declared to create micro containment zones in places witnessing a surge in the cases. The radius of containment zone can also be increased if cases continue to spread in the concerned region,” stated Mohanty.

“Accordingly, when Covid-19 cases recorded a rise in the last two days in the Capital City, containment zones were declared to prevent the further spread of the virus,” added the DMET Chief.

“The Covid-19 graph has been fluctuating for the last seven days. There has been a moderate rise in the cases in Bhubaneswar. However, this can be avoided if people strictly abide by Covid appropriate behaviour,” stressed Mohanty.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) reintroduced containment measures in the city. The civic body declared Rajendra Vihar Apartment situated in ward no 52 of the city as a containment zone. The BMC took the move after 20 positive cases were detected from 11 of the 203 flats in the residential complex.

Meanwhile, the smart city reported 111 Covid-19 positive cases, which included 95 local contacts and 16 quarantine cases, on Wednesday. With this, the active cases in the City stood at 3,372.
