The Sambalpur district administration has declared several hostels and staff quarters of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) as micro containment zone and buffer zones after as many as 31 MBBS students tested positive for COVID-19.
 
As per the order issued by the office of the district collector, the measures have been taken in a larger public interest and with a view to contain the spread of Covid-19. 

Five hostels- Sabitri Girl’s Hostel, Gargi Girls Hostel, Charak Hostel, Bhrugu Hostel and Patanjali Hostel of VIMSAR in Ward No- 6 of Burla town under the Sambalpur Municipal Corporation have been declared micro containment zone.

Similarly, four hostels- Apala Girls Hostel, Atreya Hostel, Biswamitra Hostel and Markandeya Hostel and all the staff quarters under Ward No- 6 have been declared buffer zone. The containment period is effective from today (7 am) until further order.
 
In the Micro Containment Zone, only essential activities will be allowed. There shall be strict perimeter control to ensure that there is no movement of people in or out of this zone, except for medical emergencies and for maintaining supply of essential goods and services, the order stated.
 
As per the order:

- There shall be intensive contact tracing, house-to-house surveillance and other clinical interventions as required. 

- All inhabitants within the micro containment zone and buffer zone shall strictly remain in home. 

- All the shopping establishments of whatsoever nature shall be closed immediately. 

- All the Govt. and Private institutions located within the boundary of the Micro Containment Zone shall remain closed.
