Global Covid-19 Caseload Tops 241 Million

Global COVID Cases

The global coronavirus caseload has topped 241 million, while the deaths have surged to more than 4.90 million and vaccinations soared to over 6.61 billion, according to the Johns Hopkins University.

In its latest update on Tuesday morning, the University's Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed that the current global caseload, death toll and the total number number of vaccine doses administered stood at 241,098,699, 4,904,877 and 6,617,433,262, respectively.

The US continues to be the worst-hit country with the world's highest number of cases and deaths at 45,050,219 and 726,196, according to the CSSE.

In terms of infections, India follows in the second place with 34,081,315 cases.

The other worst countries with over 3 million cases are Brazil (21,651,910), the UK (8,537,467), Russia (7,903,963), Turkey (7,683,487), France (7,190,716), Iran (5,796,659), Argentina (5,273,463), Spain (4,988,878), Colombia (4,982,575), Italy (4,719,493), Germany (5,796,659), Indonesia (4,235,384) and Mexico (3,757,056), the CSSE figures showed.

Nations with a death toll of over 100,000 are Brazil (603,465), India (452,290), Mexico (284,381), Russia (220,323), Peru (199,843), Indonesia (142,999), the UK (139,042), Italy (131,585), Colombia (126,886), Iran (124,256), France (118,232) and Argentina (115,704).
