With emergence of newer strains of Covid-19, Odisha Government should impose stricter measures to monitor the flow of people through inter-sate mobility to keep the infection rate under control in the State, stated chief of the Directorate of Medical Education & Training (DMET) CBK Mohanty.

“There has been a dip in the infection rate in the State for last few days. But we shouldn’t be complacent rather keep a track of the people entering the State from all other Covid ravaged States,” said Mohanty adding that those people should be kept in quarantine immediately after their arrival in the State.

“Last year, the State had witnessed a surge in Covid-19 because of the people returning from the bordering districts. We should learn from our past mistakes and be careful,” he said.

Mohanty indicated that the State Government will take a decision about the next phase of unlock considering the Covid situation across the State.

“We are analysing the Covid situation in different districts of the State on a regular basis. Due to the unabated surge in the pandemic, districts like Khordha and Cuttack are under special focus. Considering the situation of the pandemic, decision about the next phase of unlock will be announced soon,” he said.
