Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Wednesday urged Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to set up village-level Covid crisis management committees for effective management of COVID-19.

Speaking to CM Naveen on the current COVID situation and management in the State, Pradhan briefed him about the efforts being taken by the Government of India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to further bolster Odisha’s response to the current and emerging challenges of Covid-19.

The next 15 days is crucial in order to contain and control the surge of Covid-19, especially in Odisha. Members of the civil society as volunteers and watchdogs should be engaged in strengthening relief measures and containment efforts at the grassroots level, Pradhan told the CM.

He also requested Patnaik for setting up Covid Crisis Management Committees at the village and municipal ward level comprising members from all political parties in the State to facilitate synergised efforts for effective management of Covid-19.

When Patnaik asked Pradhan to enhance availability of vaccines Syringe in Odisha, the Union Minister reportedly briefed him about his discussion with Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan and Union Minister Mansukh Mandviya on extending all possible support to Odisha apart from facilitating smooth supply of Covid-19 vaccine doses, Rapid testing kits, Remdesivir and other critical drugs.

“Centre is working with a whole of government approach and is doing everything possible to respond and fight back better. Working together with synergistic efforts, both Odisha and India will combat and win this fight against the pandemic,” said Pradhan.
