A Covid-19 positive patient undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack died after reportedly falling off the fourth floor of the hospital on Thursday.

The patient has been identified as the resident of Mayurbhanj district and was admitted to the SCB on Wednesday after testing positive for Covid-19.

Yesterday, he fell from a window of the fourth floor and had received critical injuries on his head. Though he was immediately rushed to casualty of the hospital by the security guards, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

However, the exact reason which led the man to go near the window is yet to be ascertained.

On the other hand, a 73-year-old Covid patient identified as Dhruba Charan Behera of Paramhans area under Kandarpur police limits in Cuttack district undergoing treatment at SCB Hospital died after collapsing in toilet on Tuesday night.
However, his family members alleged that the incident was the fallout of the negligence on the part of the medical staff of the hospital.

As per sources, Behera was admitted to the COVID ward on SCB Hospital on Monday and was reportedly on oxygen support.

On Tuesday evening, Ramachandra, son of Behera tried to contact him over phone to enquire about his health. However, he did not get a response.

Subsequently, Ramachandra called up of a person attending to a patient near his father’s bed who informed him that his father was not on his bed.

Following this, Ramachandra and sister immediately rushed to the hospital and started a frantic search to find their father lying in the toilet of the ward.

Ramachandra alleged that even though he was on oxygen support, no one from the medical staff was there to attend him because of which his father had to go to the toilet alone. He further said that he was lying inside the toilet for more than two hours but no one even noticed.

Ramachandra has lodged an FIR at Mangalabag Police Station in this regard.
