Amid the rising scare of the new Covid-19 variant- Omicron, Odisha government on Sunday directed all district Collectors and concerned officials to remain alert for the possible third wave of the pandemic.

During a video conference with the district Collectors, Chief District Medical Officers (CDMO), Superintendents of Police, Odisha Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra directed the concerned officials to remain prepared for the possible third wave of the pandemic in the State.

Mohapatra also asked the officials to keep a strong vigil on the person returning from other countries. He further directed to take immediate actions if any person shows COVID symptoms.

He also emphasised on door-to-door vaccination drive and directed to ensure that everyone adheres to the COVID guidelines released by the government. Mohapatra also ordered to take the violators into tasks and take stern action against them. 

Further, he has insisted to streamline the process of releasing compensation, so that the family members of a person, who died in COVID, get the financial aid easily.
