Odisha on Saturday lodged 3,427 new Covid-19 positive cases and 42 deaths due to the infection, informed the State Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department.

With this, the cumulative positive tally touched 8,73,925 while death toll rise to 3,550 on Saturday.

The active cases in the State came down to 40,471 as 8,29,851 patients have so far recovered from the disease, said the data shared by the Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department.

Of fresh Covid-19 cases reported from the 30 districts, 1,954 are quarantine cases and while the rest 1,473 are local contact cases, informed the I&PR Department.

Khordha district continued to register the maximum 553 cases in the last 24 hours. This was followed by Cuttack (396), Jajpur (285), Balasore (261), Puri (217), Mayurbhanj (162), Nayagarh (142), Bhadrak (139), Angul (138), Kendrapada (111) and Jagatsinghpur (108).

Districts which reported less than 100 cases in the last 24 hours are- Rayagada (94), Dhenkanal (78), Sundargarh (78), Koraput (72), Nabarangpur (60), Bargarh (52), Keonjhar (47), Kandhamal (41), Balangir (40), Malkangiri (38), Kalahandi (35), Sambalpur (32), Boudh (31), Sonepur (30), Gajapati (27), Ganjam (26), Deogarh (22), Nuapada (20) and Jharsuguda (10).

In terms of deaths, while six deaths were reported from Khordha district, four each fatalities were detected from Cuttack, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh and Puri.
Similarly, three patients each succumbed in Balasore, Kendrapara and Koraput, two each in Angul, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj and Nuapada districts and one each in Kalahandi, Rayagada and Sonepur districts.

The State has so far tested a total of 1,29,64,705 samples including 64,850 on Friday. Odisha’s positivity rate stands at 6.71 percent.
