Odisha recorded 5,235 new Covid-19 cases on Friday. With this, the positive tally in the State surged to 8,42,461, the State I&PR Department informed today.

At least 43 patients undergoing treatment for Covid-19 have succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 3,210, a data shared by the Health Department said.

A total of 2,957 cases were reported from quarantine centers, while the rest 2,278 were local transmission cases detected on Friday.
Khordha district with 726 infections in the last 24 hours has the maximum cases among all districts followed by Cuttack (557), Jajpur (394), Balasore (320), Mayurbhanj (285), Angul (277) and Sundargarh (251).

Other districts which reported cases between 250 and 100 are- Kendrapara (237), Puri (234), Bhadrak (217), Nabarangpur (186), Jagatsinghpur (148), Dhenkanal (137), Nayagarh (132), Rayagada (129), Koraput (127), Bargarh (118) and Keonjhar (115).

A total of 12 districts have recorded infections in double digits notably Boudh (83), Ganjam (77), Sambalpur (66), Malkangiri (58), Kalahandi (48), Bolangir (41), Kandhamal (37), Sonepur (34), Gajapati (23), Deogarh (14) and Nuapada (13).
