Cuttack: With the Coronavirus spreading its tentacles far and wide across the State, Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) is planning to increase the number of beds at SCB medical and college hospital here and rope in more private hospitals for the effective treatment of Covid-19 patients.

Addressing media, CMC Commissioner Ananya Das, said “100 more beds including 41 ICU beds will be added to the SCB Medical College soon. Some private hospitals in city will be engaged in the treatment of the patients too.”

Along with SCB, there are 1200 beds and 300 ICUs in Cuttack, at a time when the number of active case stands at 3685. "Of the total active cases, 88 per cent of the infected persons are in home isolation. 40-50 per cent of beds at Covid care centres in the cities are occupied," Das said.

She also urged the citizens to follow all Covid appropriate behaviour including use of masks and social distancing norms to curb the spread of the virus. 

Furthermore, she also requested the residents of Cuttack to get treated at home and call Covid control room number- 7077775555 and toll free number- 18003458289 if required. 

Moreover, she urged the people to contact Covid control room if someone tested negative in antigen test and has symptoms. Arrangements for their admission at hospital will be made as a Covid suspect, she stated.
