With a continuous drop in daily Covid cases in the State and particularly in the capital city of Bhubaneswar, the local urban body, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation has decided to close down all Covid Care Centres operating in the city from February 28, 2022.

The decision came on the heels of announcement of dates for the upcoming Municipal elections in Odisha by State Election Commissioner on Friday.

Reports suggest, the BMC has already issued notices to shut down the Covid wings of Hitech and KIMS Medical College and Hospital in Bhubaneswar.

Apart from this, the authorities have also decided to reduce the Covid beds at SUM hospital in Bhubaneswar and Aswini hospital in Cuttack to 70 and 30 respectively.
