Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Saturday announced to extend doorstep Covid-19 testing and vaccination (pick and drop) facilities for differently-abled persons in the Capital City from Sunday.
“Differently-abled persons, who are bedridden and not able to walk, can avail this service. They could just give a phone call to BMC helpline number 1929 to avail the facilities,” said BMC Commissioner Sanjay Singh.
“BMC has allotted as many as 10 ambulances each in all the zones. Differently-abled citizens, who are not able to visit the vaccination centers could call the helpline number and ask the mobile team to arrive at their house. The team will pick them for vaccination and drop after the process,” said Singh.

He also added that mass Covid-19 testing will be done at various housing societies in a bid to keep the pandemic in check.
“Those housing societies interested for mass testing could inform the Zonal Deputy Commissioner or call 1929 to avail the service,” he said adding that patients with breathing difficulties and shifting requirement will also be covered under the service.
Meanwhile, Singh thanked the people in the Capital City for strictly adhering to Covid-19 norms imposed by the State Government which has gone a long way in keeping the pandemic in control.
“Covid-19 positive cases have subsided in the Capital City after May 15 because of cooperation from people of Bhubaneswar. I request them to continue with their support in future to check the spread of the pandemic,” he said.
