Bhubaneswar: Days after witnessing gradual drop in daily Covid-19 cases, Bhubaneswar on Tuesday reported a marginal rise in the infection graph when the city recorded 661 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours.

As per the data shared by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), of the new cases, 156 are quarantine cases, while 505 are of local contacts.

Moreover, the BMC also reported 1357 recoveries in the last 24 hours.

With this, the cumulative positive case count in the Capital city rose to 81570 including 7222 active cases. While 73965 people recuperated from the disease, the virus has claimed 362 lives in the city so far.

Notably on June 7, the city reported 424 new infections and 1295 recoveries while, on June 6 and 5, the tallies were 566 and 1231, and 592 and 1255 respectively.

On the other hand, Covid-19 single-day cases continue to dip in Odisha with the State recording 5,896 new cases on Tuesday. With this, the cumulative positive tally in the State surged to 8,25,110 informed the State I&PR Department.

However, with 45 patients undergoing treatment for Covid-19 succumbing in the last 24 hours, the death toll has surged to 3,080 in the State, data shared by the Health and Family Welfare Department stated.
