Bhubaneswar: The city municipal corporation on Monday informed that it has identified 3 more sites to begin drive-in vaccination of people just like the initiative which is begin carried out at the Esplanade Mall.

BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Choudhury has informed that the administration has identified the three locations for the vaccination on wheels and very soon public will be intimated about the same so that people can easily take part in the inoculation exercise.

On the other hand, even though the State government has permitted people to take vaccine at private healthcare centres by paying just Rs 100 as administration fees, the BMC Commissioner said that due to low supply of vaccines from the Centre, private hospitals have not been provided vaccines till now.

Only 1.5 lakh doses of vaccines were supplied for inoculation in BMC jurisdiction areas and all the slots have already been booked till May 19, the BMC Commissioner said. 

So once enough vaccines are delivered, private hospitals will be supplied doses, Choudhury said.

In the first phase, the BMC has selected 31 hospitals to take part in vaccination drive. So far, around 5 lakh people have already been vaccinated in the capital city, said the commissioner.
