Bhubaneswar - the Capital City of Odisha has reportedly achieved yet another milestone in the COVID-19 vaccination drive with the total vaccination crossing 25 lakh mark so far. 

As on November 14, a total of 26,48,813 vaccine doses have been administered to beneficiaries across all eligible age groups, stated the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) in a release on Monday.

The vaccination drive is covering more than 1600 people a day and soon the figure will be further enhanced, the BMC stated.

As on November 14, as many as 14,00,349 beneficiaries have been given the first dose of the vaccine, while 12,48, 464 have received both shots in the city. Out of it, 8, 26, 631 people between 18 and 44 years have got the first dose while 7, 35, 152 persons in this age group are fully vaccinated with both the doses.

In the age group of 45 years and above, 4,76,284 beneficiaries have taken the first Covid-19 dose while 4,22,874 were fully vaccinated so far.

Similarly, the BMC claimed it has given top priority in the vaccination of frontline workers who have contributed tremendously to the containment of the Covid-19 pandemic. As on November 14, a total of 56,328 beneficiaries have been administered with the first dose of the vaccine while 50,534 were fully vaccinated with both the shots.

The civic administration has been taken steps to ensure that every healthcare worker in the city is vaccinated at the earliest as they are the true heroes in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, the release added. 

So far, as many as 36, 106 healthcare workers have taken the first dose of the Covid vaccine while 33, 204 beneficiaries were fully vaccinated with both the shots in the city.

The BMC has been aggressively running the “Har Ghar Dastak” campaign to ensure no person is left behind in the vaccination exercise in the city.

Launched earlier this month, the door-to-door vaccine campaign has a special focus on second dose vaccination. Also, people who have not been administered the first dose, are being vaccinated during the campaign.

A special team formed by the civic body visited around 1075 households across the city till today and has identified 178 unvaccinated households. Out of it, around 2500 eligible beneficiaries are fully vaccinated, the release added.
