Bhubaneswar: As the number of Covid-19 positive cases in Odisha continues to raise concerns, the active cases in the capital city breached 11,000-mark with 1294 persons getting infected with the disease on Wednesday.

With the new cases, the active caseload in the city has now climbed up to 11,178. Out of the new cases, 163 positives are from quarantine while the rest 1131 are local contact cases.

The most, 46 cases have been reported from Baragada followed by Khandagiri (44), Laxmisagar (36) and 34 each from Chandrasekharpur and Baramunda areas.

Similarly, Mancheswar registered 32 cases and Jharapada witnessed 31 cases. While Dumduma registered 28 cases, Jaydev Vihar witnessed 25 cases.

As many as 19 cases each were reported from Bharatpur and Chakeisiani areas with BJB Nagar registering 14 cases. With this, the active caseload in the Capital city has now climbed up to 11,178.

Meanwhile, as many as 803 patients were also declared free from the virus infection on Wednesday.

So far, 57,066 Covid-19 positive cases have been detected in the city out of which 45,581 have recovered and 286 have succumbed.
