The Capital city of Bhubaneswar continues to report double-digit Covid-19 infections even as the number of daily positive cases has dipped in the State.

As per the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), 34 new cases were detected in the Smart city on Friday taking the active cases to 693. 

A total of 59 patients also recovered from the COVID infection on Friday (till 9 am), informed the civic body.

So far, 1,65,479 confirmed cases of Covid-19 have been reported from Bhubaneswar out of which 1,63,567 have recovered while 1,198 people succumbed to the infection.

Meanwhile, Odisha today reported 233 new positive cases, including 34 infections in 0-18 years age group, taking the total active cases in the State to 1630. 

Khordha reported the highest 53 cases followed by Cuttack (31). Among others, Sundargarh district reported 24 positive cases, Bolangir 12 and Nabarangpur 11 cases.

As per the data shared by the State Information and Public Relations Department, 1320717 people have recovered from the infection so far in Odisha while the active cases currently stand at 1630.

On the other hand, Zenara Pharma recently announced the launch of Nirmatrelvir and Ritonavir tablets as a treatment option for patients with mild to moderate Covid symptoms.

The tablet, which will be sold under the brand name 'Paxzen', is being manufactured at Zenara's US FDA and EU approved facility in Hyderabad.
