Notwithstanding the daily Covid-19 count is gradually coming down in Odisha, the fatalities due to the virus continued to remain high since the last 10 days.

Odisha on Sunday confirmed the death of 22 patients, including a four-month-old girl child from Ganjan district, due to Covid-19 pushing the toll to 8,884 till date.

As per the Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department, as many as eight deaths were reported from Balasore district, four from Sundargarh, three from Ganjam, two from Khorhda (Bhubaneswar) and one each from Angul, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Keonjhar and Nabarangpur.

On the other hand, the State detected 1,148 positive cases, including 244 cases between 0 and 18 years age category, in the last 24 hours. With this, the positive tally rose to 12,77,262 in the State, as per the Odisha Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department.

Among the fresh cases reported today, 669 are from quarantine while 479 are local contact cases. Khordha, which includes Bhubaneswar, registered the maximum of 153 Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours followed by 127 in Sundargarh, 94 in Angul and 65 in Cuttack.

 

 

Details of cases confirmed as death due to Covid-19, after due completion of the death audit process:

  1. A 77-year-old male of Angul District who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.
  2. A 45-year-old male of Balasore District.
  3. A 70-year-old male of Balasore District.
  4. An 80-year-old male of Balasore District who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.
  5. A 52-year-old male of Balasore District who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Chronic Kidney Disease.
  6. A 70-year-old male of Balasore District.
  7. A 75-year-old male of Balasore District.
  8. A 55-year-old female of Balasore District.
  9. A 77-year-old male of Balasore District who was also suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease, Hypertension.
  10. An 88-year-old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Hypertension.
  11. An 82-year-old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Parkinson's Disease, Hypertension & Cerebro Vascular Accident.
  12. A 4 month-old girl child of Ganjam District.
  13. A 25-year-old male of Ganjam District.
  14. A 50-year-old male of Ganjam District.
  15. A 62-year-old female of Jagatsinghpur District who was also suffering from Asthma, Hypertension.
  16. A 61-year-old male of Kendrapara District who was also suffering from Hypertension & Metabolic Encephalopathy.
  17. A 52-year-old female of Keonjhar District who was also suffering from Hypertension.
  18. An 80-year-old male of Nabarangapur District.
  19. A 53-year-old male of Sundargarh District.
  20. A 90-year-old male of Sundargarh District who was also suffering from Hypertension, Asthma, Cerebro Vascular Accident.
  21. A 27-year-old female of Sundargarh District.
  22. A 91-year-old female of Sundargarh District who was also suffering from Hypertension.

The active cases in the State stood at 12,330 while 12,55,995 patients have recovered from the disease so far, added the I&PR Department.

A total of 2,84,18,974 samples, including 63,037 in the past 24 hours, have been tested in the State so far. The daily Test Positivity Rate (TPR) has came down to 1.8 per cent.
