Bhubaneswar: Cold wave conditions persisted in many parts of Odisha today where the temperature fell marginally in some areas and Phulbani in Kandhamal district remained the coldest place in the state.

Kandhamal remained the coldest zone in the state and the district headquarter town of Phulbani recorded a minimum of 5.6 degrees Celsius, the lowest in the state.

The mercury stood at 7 degrees Celsius at picturesque Daringibadi in the hilly district as against 8 degrees Celsius recorded yesterday, the MeT department here said.

Bhubaneswar recorded a minimum temperature of 15.1 degrees Celsius compared to 15 degrees Celsius yesterday, it said.

The minimum temperature dropped below 10 degrees Celsius in at least eight places in the state.

The minimum temperature at Bhawanipatna stood at 6.4 degrees Celsius, while it was 8 and 8.7 degrees Celsius at Sundargarh and Talcher, respectively.

Sambalpur recorded 9.5 degrees Celsius, while Angul and Hirakud registered a temperature of 9.6 and 9.1 degrees Celsius respectively, the MeT office said.
