While surge in the prices of petrol continues to pinch the pockets of people across the country, the situation has become even worse in Odisha’s tribal dominated Malkangiri district.

As per reports, petrol is being sold at Rs 110.15 per litre and the price of diesel is currently at Rs 105.66 per litre in Kalimela.

Similarly, the price of petrol has touched Rs 109.11 per litre and diesel is being sold at Rs 104.72 per litre in Malkangiri.

The current inflation in the fuel prices has evoked strong resentment among the people in Malkangiri.

They feel the government is doing nothing to keep the rising prices of fuel in check.

“I am a small trader and I have to transport goods from the market to my shop every day. The rising fuel price has taken a severe toll on my profession. How would I sustain if the prices of fuel continues to surge like the current rate?” said a trader from Malkangiri.

According to another customer, the price rise of fuel has made their budget upside down.

“Since last one year the prices of fuel has skyrocketed. It has affected the price of other commodities in the market as well forcing the middle class people lead a miserable life. Covid-19 induced market situation has further complicated the misery of people. We are feeling ourselves helpless during this current situation,” he said.
