Managing Director of the Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Ltd (IMFA), Subhrakant Panda on Saturday took over as the President of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).

Panda officially took over the chair from his predecessor Sanjiv Mehta as President at a function held at FICCI India’s office in New Delhi. Prior to this, he was FICCI’s senior Vice President.

Worth mentioning, Panda is the first person from Odisha to have assumed the top position of the FICCI.

In his reaction after assuming the office, Panda said his top priority will be to take the Indian industry sector to a new height.

“I feel proud to have taken charge as the president of the FICCI. The FICCI’s tagline is the voice of India’s industry. So my efforts will be to take India’s industrial sector to a new height. Because it is the industry sector that immensely contributes to India’s growth. My specific priority will be for MSME and north eastern states,” said Panda.

“I had also said at the Make in Odisha Conclave that Odisha will be front and center in FICCI’s agenda for the coming year. So my entire focus will be to work towards the fulfillment of the agenda taking senior Vice President Anish Shah, Vice President Harsha Vardhan Agarwal and the team along with me,” he added.
