The winners in six categories of the 13th annual Women's World Car Of The Year (WWCOTY) awards have been announced.

The categories are - Urban model, Family SUV, Large Car, Large SUV, Performance car and 4X4.

The six category winners are the Kia Niro (Urban Model), Jeep Avenger (Family SUV), Citroen C5 X (Large Car), Nissan X-Trail (Large SUV), Audi RS 3 (Performance Car), and Ford Ranger (4x4).

Of these six winners, one will be crowned as the Best Car of the Year, the results of which are set to be announced on March 8 on the occasion of the International Women’s Day.

The panel, which consisted of 63 female motoring journalists from 45 nations in five continents, determined the winners based on a number of factors, including value for money, safety, comfort, technology, and design.

This year's challenge was especially difficult, requiring all candidates to go through strenuous driving tests, analysis, and comparison evaluations.

The six category winners will now move on to the final round for the overall Women's World Car of the Year.

The WWCOTY awards are the only car awards in the world exclusively made up of female motoring journalists. The awards aim to recognize the best cars of the year, with criteria based on the same principles that guide any driver when choosing a car.

Notably, one of these cars – the Nissan X-Trail – is currently undergoing the final phases of testing for launch in India sometime this year.
