Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. (SMIPL), the two-wheeler subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan launched the KATANA in India early this week.

The Katana is a Japanese sword from which the model’s name is derived.

Katana is powered by a 999cm3 four-stroke, liquid-cooled, DOHC, inline-four engine which delivers 112 kW (152 PS) / 11,000 RPM power and 106 N-m / 9,250 RPM torque.

The motorcycle is armed with Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.) which comes with a variety of advanced electronic control systems. S.I.R.S. features Suzuki Traction Control System (STCS), Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS), Ride-by-Wire Electronic Throttle System, Low RPM Assist and Suzuki Easy Start System.

Katana was first introduced in 1981. In fact, the Katana launched in India also pays its due tribute to the legendary model. It has since been updated both in terms of looks and performance for the new generation.

Commenting on the launch, Satoshi Uchida, Managing Director, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd. said, “We feel proud to announce the launch of the Katana in India. It reflects Suzuki’s ongoing commitment to fine craftsmanship and its willingness to sweat every detail to get them right.

The launch is a part of our strategy to solidify our big bike portfolio in the country.”

“We received a lot of queries from motorcycle enthusiasts after showcasing the Katana in the last auto expo. It is based on the positive feedback of our potential customers that we decided to introduce the same in India. We are confident that it will be able to make its own cult following in India too,” Uchita added.

Suzuki Katana is now available at all the company’s Bike zone dealerships for INR 13,61,000/- (ex-showroom, Delhi) from July 4, 2022.

The motorcycle is offered in 2 color variants, 1) Metallic Mat Stellar Blue and 2) Metallic Mystic Silver.
