The recent teaser of Mahindra & Mahindra’s Thar.e concept has put automobile lovers, particularly the electric motor enthusiasts on their toes.

Thar.e is going to be the third version of the popular Mahindra Thar, which is currently offered only in the 3-door version, with the 5-door version of the Thar to make its debut in 2024 according to Mahindra.

The Thar.e concept looked quite futuristic in the latest teaser. The EV appears to have an upright front fascia with clean horizontal lines and a rectangular blanked-off grille with squarish LED headlamps on either side. The LED tail lamps have a similar design.

The Born Electric decals on the bodywork suggest that the Thar.e will be based on a dedicated EV platform. Reports suggest it will have 4-wheel drive capabilities thanks to a quad-motor setup.

Details of the powertrain and battery are under wraps for now, but considering that it is based on the Mahindra Born Electric platform, it may feature a dual-motor setup which according to a Mahindra release, will have a power output ranging from 335bhp to 390bhp, The single motor versions come with 225bhp to 280bhp output. This is unconfirmed and the Thar.e may feature a different powertrain.

Mahindra will also reveal the Scorpio-N-based pickup, which is codenamed Z121 on August 15. The brand already sells the Scorpio Classic Pickup in South Africa, and looks to expand its international presence further.
