Hyundai Motors India teased the much awaited new-generation Verna on Monday.

The Korean auto-manufacturer has opened bookings for the new Verna at Rs 25,000. Along with releasing the teasers and booking details, Hyundai has also shared information on the new Verna’s powertrain and variants.

The new Verna will sport a completely new design and, as the teasers show, the styling has been influenced by quite a few latest-gen Hyundai sedans.

As far as the looks are concerned, the grille inserts are quite similar to the ones seen on the Tucson SUV and the current-gen Elantra sedan, which isn’t on sale in our market. The new Verna also gets a full-width horizontal light bar that will serve as the LED daytime running lamp, just like the top end trims of Kia Seltos.

It will be available in 4 trim options and claims to deliver advanced safety, convenience and comfort.

The all-new Hyundai Verna comes with a new 1.5 litre Turbo GDi Petrol engine that is available with 6-speed Manual Transmission (6MT) and 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (7DCT).

It will also be available with 1.5 litre MPi Petrol engine that comes with 6-speed Manual Transmission (6MT) and Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT).

However, diesel-heads should not feel let down at all. While Hyundai has stopped making Verna diesel, it still has the largest range of diesel models in India, starting from the hatchback GRANDi10 NIOS all the way up to the SUV, TUCSON.

Hyundai discontinued Verna diesel variants -- 1.5 CRDi MT S+ and 1.5 CRDi MT SX from January this year owing to the BS6 Phase II norms.
