American Electric Vehicle (EV) maker, Fisker has announced a limited Extreme Vigyan Edition of its popular Ocean electric SUV made especially for India. 100 units of the SUV are inbound and deliveries will commence in the fourth quarter of 2023, confirmed the EV maker.

Given that Tesla coming to India might still be a while away, it seems like Fisker might be the best bet for getting hands on an American-made EV.

The Hindi word ‘Vigyan’ translates to science in English, and Fisker has cleverly used the term in the moniker for its India-bound SUV as it takes after the brand’s India subsidiary - Fisker Vigyan.

The Fisker Ocean SUV was revealed at the LA Auto Show back in 2021, though production and deliveries of the SUV only commenced globally earlier this year. The Extreme is the most powerful and priciest derivative of the all-electric SUV. It packs in a 113 kWh (net) battery pack paired with an all-wheel drive dual-motor electric powertrain developing a notable 556 bhp and 736 Nm in boost mode. The SUV also offers a range of up to 707 km on the WLTP test cycle. This is the highest claimed range of any SUV on sale in Europe currently.

Sustainability is one of the key attributes of the Ocean SUV – it has vegan interiors, recycled carpets made from regenerated nylon, recycled rubber in several areas and even a solar panel on the roof to boost range.

Fisker Inc. is an American automotive company founded by Henrik Fisker and his wife Geeta Gupta-Fisker. Launched in 2016 and based in Manhattan Beach, California, Fisker Inc. is the successor to Fisker Automotive.
