Balasore: Normal life was affected at various places in Soro today after the district unit of BJP  observed a 12-hour bandh  demanding sub-division status for the Soro-Simulia block.The bandh was observed from morning 6 am to 6 pm.

All government offices, banks, Tehsil offices and shops remained closed during the bandh, informed sources..Activists of the saffron party questioned the state government on why the Soro-Simulia block have not been given sub-division status yet.

Earlier on May 28, BJP had observed a similar in 12-hours bandh in Soro following which vehicular movement was disrupted as party activists staged road blockades and picketing at several places.

Soro is an Assembly constituency reserved for Scheduled Caste members. Currently, BJD MLA Parshuram Dhada is the MLA from the area.
