Two goods train reportedly derailed after colliding head-on between Pakar and Kurkura railway stations under Ranchi-Rourkela railway section late last night, informed the Indian Railways today.

Drivers and guards of both the trains have escaped unhurt in the mishap.

Preliminary investigation by the Railway authorities suggested that the mishap might have occurred due to brake failure of one of the freight trains.

Railway officials, including a team from the Rourkela ARM office, rushed to the spot for restoration of the damaged track.

The investigating team of the railways has also launched a probe into the incident to ascertain the exact cause of the mishap.

Meanwhile, train services under the Ranchi-Rourkela railway division have been affected leading to the cancellation and diversion of routes of many trains.

As per reports, two trains- Jharsuguda-Hatia Passenger Train And Rourkela-Hatia Passenger Train that run daily on the route have been cancelled.

Similarly, the route of Tapaswini Express that runs from Bhubaneswar to Hatia daily while Alleppey-Bokaro Express that runs via Bhubaneswar has been diverted.
