As many as six wagons of a goods train derailed near Bheja Railway Station under Nandapur block in Koraput district in the wee hours of Friday.

Train services on the route have been severely affected following the derailment. The Visakhapatnam-Kirandul Express has been cancelled.

As per reports, the mishap took place around 25 kilometres away from Koraput Railway Station.

The iron ore-laden goods train was en route to Vishakhapatnam from Kirandul when it derailed near Bheja at around 2.30 am.

After getting information, Railway officials rushed to the spot and launched a rescue and restoration operation. The team has been pressed to clear the tracks.
