Several youths met watery grave in different parts of Odisha on Holi.

Two siblings drowned in Brahmani river in Mushadiha village under Kendrapara’s Keshapur Panchayat. The deceased siblings were bathing in the river after Holi celebrations.

In another incident, a 21-year-old youth in Bolangir’s Kandhapalipara drowned to death while taking bath in a pond. The deceased has been identified as Rahul Bhati from Bolangir. As per reports, a group of youths including the deceased were taking bath in the pond when Bhati began to drown. His friends rescued him and rushed him to the nearest hospital, where the doctors pronounced him as brought-dead.

In Cuttack’s Salipur, another youth died in a similar manner. As per reports, a youth from Buhal village was taking bath in Chitrotpala river on Wednesday when he drowned. His body was recovered later in the day.

Another person to meet his watery grave was from Choudwar in Cuttack who drowned while taking bath in Mahanadi river at Dihasahi ghat.

A minor girl from Andara village under Balasore’s Soro was also another victim. She lost her life after drowning in the village pond.

As per reports, another youth went missing from the Madhu Bridge in Cuttack’s Nuapatna.

On the other hand, Holi celebrations turned violent when two groups clashed at Badapada village under Gajapati’s Mohana block on Wednesday. The clash resulted in injuries to two villagers. Following the violence, both the groups blocked the nearby National Highway disrupting traffic movement.
