Rourkela road rage: Drunk truck driver crashes into multiple vehicles, detained

In a shocking incident of reckless driving, a speeding truck rammed into two cars and a motorcycle near the stretch between Beldihi Chhak and Vedvyas Temple in Rourkela on Wednesday, causing widespread panic and damage.

The horrifying crash, which was captured live on a mobile camera, shows the truck veering dangerously before hitting the vehicles in quick succession. Eyewitnesses reported that the truck was moving at an extremely high speed after it lost control and collided with the stationary and moving vehicles.

Both cars were severely damaged, while the motorcycle rider sustained injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported.

Local residents swiftly intervened, stopping the truck and handing over the driver to the police. Preliminary investigation revealed that the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.

Police have detained the driver and seized the truck. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.

“We were informed about the reckless driving of a truck en route to Rourkela from Sundargarh. Acting on the tip-off, a patrolling team chased the truck, during which it collided at two to three places. It also hit a scooter rider. As per the preliminary investigation, the driver was under the influence of alcohol and has been detained. The truck has been seized,” said Amarendra Sandha, DSP, Rourkela.
