Rairangpur SDJM dies in road mishap

In a tragic road accident, Rairangpur Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) Smaranika Pradhan died after the vehicle in which she was travelling lost control and hit an electric pole on NH-49 near Chainebeda area on Thursday evening.

As per initial reports, Pradhan was tarvelling along with her husband when the mishap took place. Sources said that the couple was travelling to Puri for Rath Yatra.

Following the mishap, Pradhan was immediately rushed to Jashipur hospital in 108 ambulance. However, she was declared dead by doctors there.

Pradhan’s husband has also sustained critical injuries in the road accident. 

Sources said that the road accident might have occurred due to poor visibility following rain in the afternoon.

It was only one year back that Pradhan had joined her duties in Rairangpur. The vehicle turned turtle after hitting an electric pole, sources said.

Both Pradhan and her husband were trapped inside the vehicle after the accident.

The SJDM hails from Krushnaprasad block and was supposed to attend the inauguration function of the village temple. The villagers had made elaborate plans to welcome her.

Senior officials of Rairangpur, Baripada courts are visiting the spot.
