At least 16 persons sustained injuries after the Odisha government-operated OSRTC bus they were travelling in collided with a truck in neighbouring Andra Pradesh late last night.

The OSRTC bus was reportedly en-route Bhubaneswar from Malkangiri district when it met with the accident near Srikakulam in Andhra injuring the passengers.

The injured passengers were initially admitted to Srikakulam Government Hospital. Later, the critically injured passengers were shifted to Visakhapatnam for further treatment.

As per sources, around 40 passengers were travelling in the bus when it met with the accident. The bus hit a goods truck from rear, leaving passengers with multiple injuries. Luckily, despite the severity of the impact, no causalities have been reported. The bus driver and helper also escaped with minor injuries.

The passengers with minor injuries were later discharged from the hospital after necessary treatment.

The condition of passengers, who were shifted to Visakhapatnam hospital after their condition deteriorated, is stable, informed sources.
