In a tragic incident, one person died and three others went missing while bathing after playing holi in the Kharasrota river in Jajpur district on Friday.
As per reports, as many as six youths, believed to be local residents, went for bathing in the river at Mangala Ghat near Badasuara after playing Holi. However, the youths lost their balance on the slippery rocks while bathing and were swept away in the strong current.
On being informed, the a team of fire personnel reached the spot and launched a rescue operation.
The fire team initially fished out the body of one of the youths during the operation. Later, they managed to rescue two youths. While one of them was rushed to the District Healthcare Centre in a critical condition, the other youth’s condition was stated to be stable.
As per last reports, the rescue operation was still on to trace the remaining three youths.
It is, however, suspected that though initially it was suspected that around 6 youths were in the group that went to take bath, the discovery of 10 pairs of cloths and an equal number of footwear pairs has led to speculations that there could be more people in the group.
