Minor girl dies, father injured after tractor hits bike in Odisha’s Balasore 

A six-year-old girl was killed and her father suffered critical injuries after a tractor knocked down their bike at Nidhibani Square under Bhogarai Police limits of Balasore district on Saturday. 

The deceased has been identified as Supriya and her injured father is Pradeep Barik of Nidhibani village. 

Sources said Pradeep and her daughter were returning home from the latter’s tuition. While Pradeep was riding the bike, his daughter was riding pillion. As they were nearing Nidhibani Square, a tractor coming at speed from behind hit them. The impact was so intense that the father-daughter duo was thrown off their bike, causing Supriya’s death on the spot.  

Hearing the cries, local people rescued critically injured Pradeep and rushed him to the nearby government hospital. 

On being informed, a team from Bhogarai Police Station reached the spot, recovered the body for post-mortem, and seized the vehicles. 

The cops have launched a detailed probe into the incident.
